Setting Up Permissions

Grant the required Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions for MouseViz.

MouseViz requires two macOS permissions: Accessibility (for input tracking) and Screen Recording (for display capture).

Onboarding Flow

On first launch, MouseViz walks you through granting both permissions step by step. Follow the prompts to open System Settings and enable each toggle.

Accessibility Permission

This allows MouseViz to observe mouse positions, clicks, scrolls, and key presses.

  1. Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility.
  2. Find MouseViz in the list and enable it.
  3. If not listed, click + and select MouseViz from Applications.

Screen Recording Permission

This allows MouseViz to capture display content for overlays and exports.

  1. Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording.
  2. Enable MouseViz.

After Granting Permissions

Restart MouseViz if it was running when you changed permissions. The app detects the new access automatically on next launch.

Privacy

All data is processed locally on your Mac. Input events and screen captures never leave your machine. MouseViz is Apple code-signed, notarized, and runs with hardened runtime. See our security page for details.
